G7 Nations: Everything You Need to Know About the World’s Most Powerful Group
The G7, or Group of Seven, is a alliance of seven of the world’s most advanced and developed countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Italy, France, and Germany. it was formed on 15th November 1975, the group originally started with six industrial nations, with Canada joining later to make it seven. These countries are considered the wealthiest democracies in the world based on per capita income.
Collectively, the G7 nations represent about 44% of the global GDP while accounting for only around 10% of the world’s population. Their influence on global economics, politics, and diplomacy remains significant. European Union Is also part of G7.
The 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17, 2025.

Although China and India are currently the second and fourth largest economies in the world by total GDP, they are not part of the G7, because both countries have lower per capita incomes, classified as developing or emerging economies, not high-income developed nations like the current G7 members.
